Taiwan and the U.S. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on intellectual property rights enforcement cooperation on February 22, which was made public on March 22.

Taiwan and the U.S. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on intellectual property rights enforcement cooperation on February 22, which was made public on March 22. The purpose of the MOU is to further strengthen cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S on combating intellectual Property infringement and trade fraud crimes, and working together to share best investigative practices, techniques, and information. The Prosecutorial Affairs Department and the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, the Intellectual Property Branch of the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office, the Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance, the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs are Taiwan’s designated representatives. Among them, the Intellectual Property Branch of the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office is the point of contact. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) is the U.S designated representative and also the point of contact. *The signing of the MOU will not affect practices relating to mutual legal assistance and cooperation already in place between Taiwan and the U.S.
